Unshaming Shame: The Complex Emotion of Shame Workshop Plus Q&A

Intro to Shame Workshop for Coaches & Therapists

Referred to as the 'master emotion,' shame is critical in our work as coaches and therapists. Shame is a social construct emotion and it informs us of an internal state of inadequacy, unworthiness, disconnection, regret, or dishonor. Everyone has healthy, normal shame, it is one of the core emotions human beings experience, and because it’s an emotion, not a feeling, it has a physiological component, but we can be unaware of its value.

We are born with the biological need for survival, which means we must be accepted by our family, tribe, community. There is fear underneath shame that says, “if I am shunned by said family, tribe community, I won’t survive. If I’m a liability, not an asset to my group, or I have done something ‘bad,’ my parts fear for my safety, as I cannot take care of myself.”

The main reason we have the emotion of shame, is to protect us from being shunned by those we need to care for us and keep us safe.

I'm offering a two-hour live Q&A on shame where we will dive into questions you have, to gain a better understanding and deepening of your knowledge.
